Canadian Leathercrafter – 2024 C.S.C.L. ANNUAL MEETING

Held at the RAMADA by Wyndham, Lindsay, Ontario

Friday night we had a contest for those who wanted to participate. Each person was given a bag of scrap leather and they had to make something with it in a certain time limit.

Items where then numbers and all the people attending voted on the one they liked best.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place got Tim Horton Gift Cards.

Saturday morning we held our Annual Meeting, had a coffee break and then began our first workshop, making a belt. We could either do a buckle or a ring style.

We then had an enjoyable lunch from our local Bakery.

After lunch we did shaving cream dying on a pouch for your belt and on a leather apron.

We then had draws for the White Elephant Table.

Saturday evening we enjoyed a delicious supper at Castle John’s Restaurant which is attached to the Hotel.

The two types of belts, pouches that were dyed using the saving cream method and the dog collar and led.

We then went back to our meeting room and awards where handed out.

Lois Found from the Norland Guild then introduced our guest speaker Jean Abernethy who builds saddles and is also the Author of 5 books on Fergus the Horse.

Sunday morning we made a braided dog collar and braided lead.

Because we were so late Saturday night we did the President Draws on Sunday Morning.

Recipients of Honourary Life Memberships

A Life Membership in the C.S.C.L was presented to Della. Della has been a member the longest of any current CSCL Members (1978) and was secretary from 2005 to 2015 and has been our Treasurer since 2006.

On behalf of the C.S.C.L.   we would like to thank Paul for his years of service to the Guild and its members for the support and use of the facilities he has and let the Guild use at any time. He has been very helpful to people learning leathercraft over the years and for this we honour Paul with a  Life Membership in the C.S.C.L.
