Della Chynoweth
← History & Records · Norland Branch · member since 1978 · the original (PDF)

Della’s mother started leathercrafting in 1957, when she attended night school at Fenelon Falls High School. Her mother would get orders for wallets for Christmas and have her daughters help with the lacing — and, needless to say, with all the leather and leather tools in the home, Della started doing leatherwork herself.
She joined the Norland Leather Guild when it was formed, and joined the CSCL on 31 October 1978 — making her, at the Society’s close, its longest-standing member. Over the years she has belonged to the Norland Guild, the Toronto Guild, been a Member-at-Large, and returned to the Norland Guild; she has attended many workshops and helped with others throughout her membership.
Della became the CSCL Treasurer in 2006 and held the position from then on, keeping the Society’s money in order. She was made an Honourary Life Member in 2024.
