The list of Associates and Fellows
← History & Records · c. 1985 · 3 pages
This is the Society's own record of who had been elected Associate and who Fellow, and in which year. It was typed as a single roll and then kept by hand: later members were added in pencil or ink, and as members died their rows were struck through and a date of death written alongside.
It is the document that dates the Society's early certifications. Before it was read, the archive could say only that Irva Ford, Fred Brown, Jessie Little and Clarice Packham were Fellows, without knowing when. The roll gives Irva Ford's Fellowship as 1958, Fred Brown's as 1963 and Clarice Packham's as 1955, and supplies both years for scores of members the record held only as names.
One hundred and twenty-four certification years came from this page, and ninety-nine of the people named in it were not otherwise in the Society's surviving records at all.
The roll
Transcribed from the three pages above. A blank means the roll gives no year in that column, not that the member never held the grade. Names are given in the form the archive files them under; the roll itself is written surname first.
Transcribed from the scan above. Years are given in the column each is printed under. Rows struck through mark members who had died; those annotations are described rather than interpreted.
