Summary

A profile of Evelyn Burgess, who had just opened Unique Crafts, a small leather shop near Hamilton, after years when leathercraft had been her hobby. It describes her stained and modelled designs on calfskin, worked without knives, her tooled cowhide and the range of goods she made, and her earlier life: art classes in Dover during the First World War, teaching voice and violin in England, and twelve years lecturing for the Hamilton S.P.C.A. after she came to Canada in 1951.
