Everything the Society’s own records say of Dorothy Read — the offices held, the standings conferred, and the awards won — gathered on one page. Where the records are silent, so is this one.
Certification
- Honorary Associate of the CSCL 1967
Of Toronto, she was made an Honorary Associate in 1967 for her work behind the scenes and her assistance during Canadian National Exhibition time — one of only two such honours the archive holds from that period, the other Cecil Roebuck's five years earlier.
From Spring 1967, page 2.
Honours
- Honorary Associate 1967
Announced by the Board of Selection at the Annual Meeting hosted by the Barrie Branch, alongside the year's two new Associates, Jessie Strain of Galt and Marg Weldon of Ancaster. The citation names her work for the Society "particularly behind the scenes and her assistance given so willingly during C.N.E. time". The Society awarded the Honorary Associate very sparingly — Cecil Roebuck's, five years earlier, is the only other one the archive holds from this period. The page spells the rank "Honorory".
