The Society’s records

Everything the Society’s own records say of May Wheatley: the offices held, the standings conferred, and the awards won. Where the records are silent, so is this part of the page.

Certification

  • Associate of the CSCL 1958
The election notice prints the town as “Guelph, Ont.”. Also recorded teaching leathercraft, alongside Alvin Haig and Irva Ford, “more recently” than the Society’s founding teachers (1966-summer p4).

Where this comes from

May Wheatley is named in the records of the Canadian Society for Creative Leathercraft, the society of leather crafters founded in Toronto in 1950 that taught, exhibited and judged its members’ work until it closed in 2025. Its newsletters, papers and photographs are kept in this archive.
