Ship Metta Catharina

Concerning my contribution to the CSCL Virtual Leathercraft Annual Competition 2023 am I sending four photos as superficial show a quite simple pocket match holder sourronded by some small leather remnants, some with stamped writing on and one with a small sketch of a ship, as is colored with ROC Metallic gold color. But the leather as is used in this project is quite particular and come from the ship Metta Catharina as sank in a storm 1786 in the Plymouth Sound, UK. The item and leather, the photos, are together more like a collage. I do not know if you know the story about the ship Metta Catharina as on its way from St. Petersburg in Russia to Genoa in Italy with a cargo among other of about 106 tons of russian leather was caugth in a storm and sought shelter in the Plymouth Sound (UK) where it sank. In 1973, allmost 200 year after was the shipwreck and its cargo of russian leather discovered. The leather was taken ashore and was still useable. The four photos I send to CSCLs Viritual Competition 2023 is a ''story'' as remind about the ship Metta Catharina and its cargo, with farly simple means.
