Visiting Nasser Vies

Nasser Vies is a bespoke shoemaker in Toronto. Paul Kitchener took the Society's Norwegian visitor, Alf B. Luneborg, to his shoemaking shop in late January 2015, at the end of four days that had also taken in the Bata Shoe Museum; Eugene Pik was there too. It was not the first time the Society had met him — Nasser Vies spoke and demonstrated at the Toronto branch's meeting of 10 January 1990, and was so well received that the branch reported rapt attention, and that he held Ruth Haig's formulation for beeswax to be the best he had used. The visit is reported in the Society's newsletter for Winter 2014–2015, pages 4 and 5, which names everyone present; the 1990 demonstration is in the Toronto branch's own report to the 40th Annual Meeting, page 18.
