Council of Fellows Report for the 2023 Annual Meeting
The Fellows of the Society met twice this past year, both meetings were held virtually. The first
meeting was to firm up criteria for the third Virtual Annual Competition and the second meeting to judge
the entries. The Members of the Society were able to send photographs (via email) of their work into the
website, from the emails, the photos were uploaded to google albums. The Virtual Judges – Lauch, Kim
& Karen were tasked to set up their own personal scoring systems and arrive at a score from 0 – 10 on
each entry. The scores were averaged and sorted this gave an order of highest score to lowest.
Not being able to see, hold and understand the construction of the physical entry prove difficult but
doable, the explanations of the work and techniques aided the process.
There were no entries to the Branch Competition (Weston Trophy) and no Items Entered for
Associate and Fellow Consideration. The Table Items will be Judged on Friday Night.
We had 11 entries from 3 Members, - 3 General Members. 9 of the items were judged, one was
interest only and one article had been previously judged. The works were awarded 5 Craft Certificates and
4 were Awarded Salon Certificates. The Judges were able to award The Robert Muma Award for Best
Tooling or Colouring - $50 Prize and Best in Show - $50 Prize. The results and winners will be
announced at the Awards Presentation following dinner on Saturday night.
