Joyce Scruton showed the Mississauga branch how to cover bottles with scraps of leather, and how they might be painted afterwards. The branch's report calls it her last demonstration and remembers her “wound up and really enjoying doing what she liked best passing on information of her knowledge of leather and her tricks of the trade.” She died in October 2015 — the report prints the year as 2016, but the Society's Executive recorded her death in its October 2015 minutes and the Editor's report to the 67th Annual Meeting gives October 2015. The following month the branch kept a minute's silence for her. The branch's own report of its year, in the 66th Annual Meeting Reports (2016), page 13: “October: Joyce Scruton showed how to cover bottles with scraps of leather and made suggestions on how to paint them after. Sorry to say this was Joyce's last demonstration as she passed away on October 17, 2016.”
