A long-time Mississauga member, Associate, and Honourary Life Member instrumental in forming the Mississauga Guild; her knowledge of leather, supplies, and techniques was legendary. The Society's own Executive reported the news the same month it happened: the October 2015 Executive Meeting minutes record "Sad news Joyce Scruton passed away" among the Mississauga branch's own report, with a condolence card requested the meeting before. The 2017-67th-annual-meeting-reports (Norland Branch Report, p.6) instead dates her death and last demonstration to "October 17, 2016", a full year later than the contemporary report; both are kept.
