and Workshops
A Spot of Colour: Demonstration on Composition and Colour, with Desiree Kern
Using spirit dyes and acrylic paint to get just the shade or tone you want, using the tricks of the trade
from a professional artist.
Simple Western Florals Demonstration, with Lester Pinter
Lester will show us how he draws his Western floral patterns to fill in odd and/or irregularly shaped
spaces.
Hot Gold Foil Work, with Andy Hughes
Andy will walk and talk us through the process he uses for traditional gold foil work on leather (the
lines and patterns traditionally seen on leather inlaid coffee tables, book bindings, etc.).
Leather Box Covering Demonstration, with Sean Dalgetty
Sean will be going through the step-by-step process of covering boxes in heavy leather, focusing on
miter stitched corners and corner coverings.
Cigar Case Making Workshop, with Craig Gill
Craig will be cutting, fitting, assembling (and tooling if time permits) a Texan style cigar case.
Required skills (Intermediate):

Craig will assume that you know the basics of cutting,
hand-sewing, edge polishing, etc.
Required tools:

Please bring the tools and supplies you would normally
use to complete a project like this:
o Tools you use to cut leather shapes from a
pattern (e.g. head knife/scissors)
o Whatever tools you use to hand-sew (e.g.
overstitcher, dividers, awl)
o Cutting mat or surface
Consumable materials will be supplied (e.g. leather,
patterns, needles, thread, dowels, etc.)

Purse Making Workshop, with Kristi Grove
Kristi will be making a very simple two-piece
leather purse, with hand-stitched edges, a leather
thong strap, and a Sam Browne stud closure.
Required skills (Beginner):
Beginner/entry level – all skills will be taught
Tools/materials:
Unless you have a favourite knife for cutting,
everything else will be supplied!
Leather Covered Belt Buckles, with Lauchlan Harrison
Lauchlan will be covering a belt buckle in a piece of
leather, which will be formed around the buckle
and stitched into place.
Required skills (Beginner):

Beginner – some experience with hand-
stitching would be beneficial
Required tools:
-
Please bring the tools and supplies you
would normally use to complete a project
like this:
o Tools you use to cut leather
shapes from a pattern (e.g. head knife/scissors)
o Whatever tools you use to hand-sew (e.g. overstitcher, dividers, awl)
o Cutting mat or surface
