Dan Hanington

← People of the Society · on record 1976–1977

Everything the Society’s own records say of Dan Hanington — the offices held, the standings conferred, and the awards won — gathered on one page. Where the records are silent, so is this one.

Possibly the same person: Don Hannington →
The Society printed the Hamilton maker’s surname three ways: “Hanington” in the Summer 1976 Weston Trophy report, “Harrington” in the Leather ’76 award list three pages later in the same issue, and “Hannington” in the 1977 Craftsman Ribbon tally and in the Hamilton slate of the 1977 Annual Meeting programme. “Don Hannington” appears once, in the Canadian National Exhibition list of October 1977 — the same year and the same surname as the Hamilton maker, and possibly the same person with the given name misread. That entry stands in the Women’s Division of the list, which the archive has not been able to reconcile, so the two records are kept apart.

Also recorded as Dan Hannington, Dan Harrington

A Hamilton Branch maker. A purse of his design was among the five Hamilton articles that won the Weston Trophy for the branch in 1976; his work won the Leather '76 Craftsman Award for a bottle in deer-skin and braiding, and a Craftsman Ribbon the following year; and he was the Hamilton Branch's Vice-President for 1977–78. The Society printed his surname three ways: “Hanington” in the Summer 1976 Weston Trophy report, “Harrington” in the Leather '76 award list three pages later in the same issue, and “Hannington” in the 1977 Craftsman Ribbon tally and in the Hamilton slate of the 1977 Annual Meeting programme.

From Summer 1976, page 2; Summer 1976, page 5; June 1977, page 3; and 27th Annual Meeting 1977 — programme, The Victorian Inn, Stratford.
