Certification

  • Associate of the CSCL 2012
The judges marked the four pieces 81.1, 78.6, 81.3 and 75.6 per cent, an average of 79.2; the belt is called a Ranger belt in their comments and simply a belt in the newsletter's list.

His work won the Betty Heacock Memorial Award in 2009 and 2010 and Salon and Craftsman Ribbons in 2011 and 2012, and he was an Associate of the Society from 2012. He entered a sheath for the Hamilton branch in the 2012 Weston Trophy competition, where the belt loop was set “on an angle for better fitting on the hip”, the stitching on the back “a little irregular”, the whole “nice and sturdy”; Mississauga took the trophy that year, averaging 80.4 per cent to Hamilton's 72.8. He was one of the nine members whose work was shown in Leather 2013: Creative Versatility at the Woodstock Art Gallery, 12 January to 2 March 2013, each writing about their own pieces in the exhibition’s own pages, and his work won the Irva Ford Award for Best Moulded Article in 2013. He served on the executive as 2nd and then 1st Vice-President before becoming President in the mid-2010s.
