Leather chairs upholstery project

Awarded Craftsman Ribbon

An upholstery project. These Costco chairs have a high quality construction, with real wood, plywood, steel springs and wide tension straps. Unfortunately they were upholstered with "pleather" that started peeling. Re-upholstered them with a good quality leather (crocodile design embossed) and now they look and feel better than new! I used my saddle making skills and tools to make templates, sew and pull leather. The saddle making bulldog pliers also work beautifully for upholstery.

A wall piece “The Three Graces”

This leather relief was made after the famous sculpture group by the great Italian sculptor - Antonio Canova. Size is 44 x 28 cm. A wall piece “Ruslan vs. Chernomor”

This relief depicts episode of the battle of the brave hero Ruslan against dark sorcerer Chernomor, who stole Ruslan’s bride. This work was inspired by the poem “Ruslan and Ludmila” of the great Alexander Pushkin. The artwork is based on my original drawings and sketches. Hand painted with the “Angelus” leather paint. Fresnel Lens POCKET MAGNIFIER

This is a chrome tanned (alligator impression) leather sleeve case. Hand stitching (Norvegese Stitch) holds a pocket size FRESNEL LENS that slides to use. Finished dimensions are 3.25X3.75 inches. Edges are stained black and black cotton thread was waxed. The Norvegese Stitch looks like saddle stitch on the back and a crochet stitch on the front.

FINS

This is a custom size bag using a 3.5 inch FLEX FRAME CLOSURE. Machine sewn and 7 inches long it can hold eyeglasses or be filled to gift a special treat. The fish body is lightweight chrome skiver and the 3 fins are suede carp. Buttons for eyes are hand stitched on.

PEN & PENCIL CARP WRAPS

Two different colours of embroidery floss were used in a Baseball Stitch to secure these wraps of suede carp (fish leather), 3 inches down the lengths of a pencil and a pen.

Winter Hat

The cap is made of lambskin - and is sewed with a universal cast-stitch where the skin pieces are laid against each other with the fur in and sewed together. Over the stitching, as shall be flat, not with a hard roll, is laid leather strips as also is sewed with cast-stitches about 2 mm in on the skin. It's 12 pieces in the cap as is a result of last winter's studies/work.
