Bylined "V Lara Russell" on her own "Designing for Leathercraft" article, Fall 1953, p3 — the fullest form of her name printed in the surviving papers.
She tied for second place in the Public Preference Poll at the Shoe and Leather Fair in 1952. A Fellow of the Society from 1953, she wrote on 'Designing for Leathercraft' for the newsletter that year. Her work won a Canadian Handicrafts Guild Competition Special Mention in 1955 and an International Assembly Salon Exhibit Honorable Mention in 1957.
