Executive Meeting Friday February 28, 2019

Call to order: at 7:45 pm
The Minutes of November 2019 were not available. (these will have to be taken care of at the next meeting.)
Minutes of January 31, 2020. Moved by Barbara Chynoweth/seconded by Jim Wilkes that they be acceted as distributed. Carried.
Business Arising from the last meeting
Annual – We discussed the draft program that Lauch had sent out.
Plans for the Annual May 8, 9 & 10
❖ Location Vistors Inn Hamilton double rooms aprox $149/night – a block of rooms have been reserved
❖ the theme will be 60's & 70's Bell Bottoms, Platform shoes, Leather Hats etc.
❖ Friday - Set up, Judging & Sharpening workshop,
❖ Saturday – Business Meeting, Morning workshop - First Bus to Tundra 11am
❖ Lunch at Hotel Three Item Price Fix ($10 coupon on $15 meal)so people will eat in hotel
❖ Three Hour Challenge best Al Stolman carving project Prizes for every Membership level. People will need to bring tools.
❖ Concurrently three hour small project for those that don't want to compete.
❖ Presidents Table Draws, Leather related White Elephant Draws
❖ Reception Banquet, Prizes After Dinner Entertainment.
❖ Sunday – Workshop 9am till Noon – may be a sandle workshop
❖ Judging will be April 26, 2020 at Paul Kitcheners
❖ Fellows Meeting will be March 22 at 10 am at Paul Kitcheners
Attention All Branches – Hamilton requests a donation from each branch for the President's Table and if you have any vendors that you deal with that you could ask for a donation from that would be much appreciated.
Acton Leather Festival – they are possibly having a sales and demonstrations, sometime in August but not sure of date yet.

Membership – Did not send out the MAL Membership cards for 2019/2020. Will do it for the
2020/2021 as they come in.
Associate Level Benchmarks Schedule Meeting of Fellows – Will discuss at the Fellows meeting
March 22.
Valuating Leather Donations or Estates Policy/Decision Ladder – Lauch is still working on this
Workshop – Mississauga is having a Messenger Bag with Karen Weber April 25th from 10 – 4
Norland is having a box making workshop on April 18th – all welcome. Della will take samples to our
March meeting and Lauch is sending pictures.
Reports
• 1st Vice President – Jim Wilkes – No Report.
• Council of Fellows – Sean Dalgetty – Meeting March 22.
• Treasurer’s Report – Della Chynoweth – There has not been any expenses or receipts since last
meeting. Reminder that memberships are coming due.
• Newsletter – Barbara Chynoweth - The Summer/Fall Newsletter has been done and she is
working on the Winter edition. Should have it ready for March.
• Web – Working Fine. Nothing new.
• Membership – Kim Winchester - No report. Kim please send Barbara a copy of membership
list.
• Library – Paul Kitchener – Nothing happening.
• Correspondence – Jim reported that Richard sent his thanks to us for the Sympathy Card from
the CSCL.
• Workshop – There will be a workshop in Mississauga on April 25 and on in Norland on April
18th
Branch Reports
Hamilton – Lauchlan Harrison – Working on planning the Annual. Doing some 60’s stuff for the
convention.
Mississauga – Jim Wilkes – Made a key fob, will be doing a whip around core at next meeting
Norland – Barbara Chynoweth – Made a key/credit card holder and started working on covers for
some of our tools.
MAL- Lauren Malec - The Thorndale Community Centre succumbed to a fire on February 24, 2020 and
is no longer available for bookings. This is where Lauren demonstrated leather in the fall. A new
Community Centre is being built to be ready for fall 2020..
New Business
Lauch will send Barbara the Annual Registration Form to send out.
Della will need someone to review her Financial Records.
