He served as the Barrie Branch's Treasurer in 1969 and demonstrated at the 11th International Assembly. His work won an International Assembly Salon Ribbon in 1963; a Canadian Handicrafts Guild Competition First Prize and an Honourable Mention in 1964, the Honourable Mention printed “D.G. Trew”; and Craftsman Awards in 1967 and 1970.
