Etobicoke Art Gallery exhibition 1992 — catalogue
The catalogue lists each piece in five columns — number, maker, telephone, description and price — and the entry list is set out that way here. Two descriptions carry a word the printer broke across a line, “hand-made” paper and “hand-marbled” leather; where the break falls is also where the word’s own hyphen would fall, so both are left hyphenated as the page shows them.

ARTS ETOBICOKE
This Art Rental/Sales Collection Exhibition on display at City Hall for the month of September is just a sample of the year round collection available for rent or sale to Etobicoke businesses and corporations. The Art Rental/Sales Collection is co-ordinated by Arts Etobicoke to link the work of local artists to the Etobicoke business community. This is just one of the many programs and services offered by Arts Etobicoke.
Since 1973, Arts Etobicoke has been the City's incorporated not for profit arts council providing valuable services to community arts organizations and offering creative programs to the residents of Etobicoke. We represent over 60 member arts organizations and their 7 000 members as "one voice" to all levels of government to ensure continued and improved support for the arts community.
Our mission statement is: "to enhance the quality of life within the community by developing a wide spread appreciation, support and involvement with the Arts."
To accomplish our aim, we assist in the development of new cultural organizations, counsel members with administrative or financial problems, offer shared services, sponsor workshops, provide a community information service on the arts and organize artistic events.
Our exciting program year consists of: Christmas Tapestry, A Chocolate Fantasy, Artistry-in-Action craft show, Mayor's Luncheon for the Arts, Simply for Kids childrens' festival and Autumn ArtsFest.
Arts Etobicoke is administered by a 19 person Board of Directors and a 5 person staff. We receive funding through grants from the City of Etobicoke, Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto, the Ontario Arts Council and the Ministry of Culture and Communications. As well, we raise money through membership fees, program revenues, donations, special events and sponsorships.
For more information on Arts Etobicoke and our programs and services, please call Belinda Kemp, Marketing and Special Events Assistant, at 622-8731.

Autumn ArtsFest, organized by Arts Etobicoke, is an annual community festival designed to showcase and celebrate the diversity and vitality of the arts in the City of Etobicoke. This year's ArtsFest runs from September 17th to October 4th. Over 50 events involving more than 900 participants have been confirmed during the 18 days of the festival. These events encompass theatre, music, choral, visual arts, crafts, heritage, nature, dance, literature, churches and educational activities.
Some of the highlights of Autumn ArtsFest include "A Showcase of the Arts" at Sherway Gardens September 17, 18 and 19. "Showcase" is a performance and display festival featuring the arts groups of Etobicoke. On September 26 from noon to 5 pm, take an ArtsWalk to demonstrations, shows and sales by Etobicoke artists in four nearby locations: Etobicoke City Hall Art Gallery, Applewood, Etobicoke Hydro and the Etobicoke Education Centre. Get your free tickets early for Songfest, a concert by five of Etobicoke's finest choral groups in a joint celebration of song at 2 pm, October 4 at Silverthorne Collegiate Institute (291 Mill Road).
These are just a few of the exciting events (most of which are free!) that are taking place, so discover the arts in Etobicoke and join the celebration of Autumn ArtsFest!
For more information on Autumn ArtsFest, please call 622-8731 during office hours or call the new 24 hour Arts Hotline, 234-6700 for the most up-to-date listing of events.

Arts Etobicoke's Art Rental/Sales Collection is a specialized service tailored to meet your individual needs. Our program consists of an exemplary collection of works by members of Arts Etobicoke offering a diversity of styles and techniques available within our city. Paintings, drawings, photography, graphics and original prints are all housed in a slide gallery available for rental or purchase by businesses, small or large.
Our personal service begins with a visit to your office to assess your needs and preferences followed by a custom slide presentation.
You can select as many collection works as you wish for rental or purchase. Advise us of a time for delivery and we will look after the rest. Then we'll invoice you in one simple payment.
Rental periods are 6 months or one year with an option to renew. You may purchase works of art at the time you select them, or you may rent with an option to buy at a later time. If you wish to purchase a work, within the rental period, up to 50% of the rental fee may be deducted from the purchase price.
Arts Etobicoke retains 10% commission on rentals and 20% on commission sales. A one-time only fee applies for initial consultation.
Arts Etobicoke will accept payment of purchases through Visa or Mastercard.
If you don't see something you like, ask to see portfolios of the artists of your choice, or ask us how to arrange for commissioning of art work.

What is the CSCL?
- a non-profit voluntarily staffed educational service for leather craftsmen.
- organized in 1950 by amateur and professional craftsmen.
- membership includes craftsmen from coast to coast in Canada and the United States.
Who May Join?
- anyone interested in leathercraft regardless of experience.
What are the Chief Objectives of the Society?
- to improve the status of leathercraft by raising standards of design and craftsmanship.

What are the Benefits of Joining CSCL?
The Society serves its membership in many ways. Beginner students may consult Fellow members who are experts in the craft. Experienced craftsmen may learn the latest developments in the field.
The Society does not conduct classes, but can recommend members to competently conduct group and private classes.
Individuals and groups of craftsmen, tanners, manufacturers, leathercraft instructors, supply houses, professional studios -- all share in the program of giving and receiving help through the CSCL.
Larmour Memorial Library of Craft Books are available to the Branches and Members-at-Large.
The CSCL is exerting an ever-widening influence on all phases of Canadian leathercraft. It is becoming an important recognized source of information on contemporary leathercraft activities. It is affiliated with The Ontario Crafts Council and various regional Arts Councils.
