Nancy Durham

← People of the Society · on record 1988–2022

Everything the Society’s own records say of Nancy Durham — the offices held, the standings conferred, and the awards won — gathered on one page. Where the records are silent, so is this one.

Certification

  • Associate of the CSCL 1994
  • Fellow of the CSCL 2005

A Woodstock Branch member, she served as the Society's Vice-President and, across many years, its Director. She made a square for the CSCL Leather Quilt. She showed two pieces in the Society's exhibition at the Etobicoke Art Gallery, 4-29 September 1992, and three pieces at Leather 2004, the Society's biennial juried exhibition at the Hamilton Public Library, 55 York Boulevard, 2-30 November 2004, with the Woodstock guild. She has been a Fellow since 2005. She was one of the nine members whose work was shown in Leather 2013: Creative Versatility at the Woodstock Art Gallery, 12 January to 2 March 2013, each writing about their own pieces in the exhibition’s own pages. She was named an Honourary Life Member in 2022, a nomination she was, in the newsletter's words, “completely surprised” by. She showed five pieces at Leather 2000: Fifty Years of Leather Art, the Society’s exhibition in the Grand Hall Gallery of the Woodstock Museum, 466 Dundas St., 20 May to 17 June 2000 (Tapered 2-Tone Belt/Conchos; Mask - Brown; Round Box, Red, Black, Floriate; Round Box, Mahogany, Lizard; Playing Card Case, Red). She learned to shape, mould, carve and tool leather through her membership of the Society, which the last newsletter dates to 1987, and it places the Honourary Life Membership at the 72nd Annual Meeting, held by videoconference.
