Certification

  • Associate of the CSCL 1993

A Toronto Branch member — its Secretary in 1988 and 1989, Vice-President in 1990 and President from 1991 to 1993 — and a Director of the Society in 1989, he was named an Associate in 1993. He showed two pieces, a blue double box and tray and a rolled-edge belt, in the Society's exhibition at the Etobicoke Art Gallery, 4–29 September 1992, where the catalogue lists him by his initials, “WHITE, B. H.”; the Blue Box and Tray Set took that year's Ontario Crafts Council Award for Most Original Design. He made two squares for the CSCL Leather Quilt. A member's account of forty years of Annuals, in 2010, remembers him among the “stars” of the Annual display tables. At the 40th Annual Meeting in 1990 his box with a bear design took both a Craftsman and a Salon Ribbon; the Salon list prints him as Bill White.

From Fall 1992; Etobicoke Art Gallery exhibition 1992 — catalogue, page 14; Fall 1998, page 2; Spring 2010, page 2; and Spring 1990, page 4.
