Certification

  • Associate of the CSCL 1988
Made an Associate, with a pin, at the 38th Annual Meeting; her four entries all marked over 80%. Two years before the Fellowship the register already carried from the Spring 1990 newsletter.
  • Fellow of the CSCL 1990
“Dorothy Muma, F.C.S.C.L., chairman of the Council of Fellows awarded the designation of Fellows to Betsy Rennie, of the Hamilton Branch”, at the meeting of 28 April 1990. The register had held her only from the Fellows reports of 2021–2024, undated.

A Hamilton Branch member, she was made a Fellow in 1990 by Dorothy Muma, chairman of the Council of Fellows. She made a square for the CSCL Leather Quilt. She edited the newsletter through the early 1990s, showed four pieces in the Society's exhibition at the Etobicoke Art Gallery, 4-29 September 1992, and served three terms as the Society's President, 1995–97. She showed one piece at Leather 2000: Fifty Years of Leather Art, the Society’s exhibition in the Grand Hall Gallery of the Woodstock Museum, 466 Dundas St., 20 May to 17 June 2000 (Leather Pouch - Waist Bag). She wrote two projects for The Leather Craftsman, “Christmas Pins” (1987) and “Double Picture Frame” (1988) (see Members in print on the Links page). The Society's last newsletter dates her membership to 1983, the year she joined: Charter Members were still at the workshops then, and she recalls their attention to fine tooling.
