Standing

Society Member 1988–1997

Branch

Woodstock · recorded holding office in 2010

A Woodstock Branch member who served three terms as the Society's President, 1985–87, and later edited the newsletter for over a decade, 2003–2016; named an Honourary Life Member in 2016. A multi-term Editor of the Society's newsletter, she is also credited by the Society's own Members-at-Large final report (May 2026) with steering the 2005 origin of the CSCL website. She showed one piece in the Society's exhibition at the Craft Gallery and Resource Centre of the Ontario Crafts Council, 346 Dundas Street West, Toronto, 2-28 March 1976, and one piece at Leather '78, the Society's exhibition at the Etobicoke Civic Centre, 550 Burnhamthorpe Road, November 1978, whose catalogue prints her as M. Mitchell. Two pieces were chosen for the Society’s 1985 Travelling Exhibition, from about sixty entries, by the judges Robert Muma, Paul Williams and Alison Parsons: a miniature furniture set in cowhide dyed brown, and an executive portfolio in cowhide with a morocco interior. She showed two pieces in the Society's exhibition at the Etobicoke Art Gallery, 4-29 September 1992, and four pieces at Leather 2004, the Society's biennial juried exhibition at the Hamilton Public Library, 55 York Boulevard, 2-30 November 2004, with the Woodstock guild. She was one of the nine members whose work was shown in Leather 2013: Creative Versatility at the Woodstock Art Gallery, 12 January to 2 March 2013, each writing about their own pieces in the exhibition’s own pages. She made a square for the CSCL Leather Quilt. She showed five pieces at Leather 2000: Fifty Years of Leather Art, the Society’s exhibition in the Grand Hall Gallery of the Woodstock Museum, 466 Dundas St., 20 May to 17 June 2000 (Smiling Leather Mask; Oval Box - Padded Top; Paperback Book Cover; Double Picture Frame; Double Card Case - Quilt Motif). She wrote the report of the Society’s 2014 Annual Weekend for The Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal (see Members in print on the Links page). The Society's final Members-at-Large report credits her with beginning the commemorative CSCL Leather Quilt in 1990.
