Photo glimpses from a visit to CSCL in Canada: Tundra Leather Shop, 313 King Street East, Hamilton. The author met editor Madeleine Mitchell and leatherworker Nancy Durham outside the shop, then went inside, where Sean Dalgetty, Heather Grove and Jim Wilkes were at work; boot maker Paul Kitchener, pictured, had taught Sean Dalgetty to make the boots he shows off in the photographs.

More from the visit: Nancy Durham, Madeleine Mitchell, Linda Courtney and Paul Kitchener, who hosted the author for two nights at his home, with a trip to Niagara Falls and the Skylon Tower; a visit Paul Kitchener arranged to Nasser Vies's Bespoked Shoe workshop, where Eugene Pik joined the group; and a leather-carved ship panel by the Toronto leather artist Len Zinn (who died in his 40s, originally from South Africa), seen hanging on the wall there.
Page 3
The first page of a ten-question interview with the Canadian artist Rex Lingwood, a master of the cuir bouilli technique, at his home and workshop in Bright, Ontario: his approach to materials and function, his years entering and then leaving juried competitions, and lecturing in Cirencester, England, in the 1980s.
Page 4
The interview continues: tradition and modern craft and art, how Rex Lingwood came to know the Australian leather artist Garry Greenwood through Ian White of Jam Dactory Leather Shop, Adelaide, workshops and exhibitions through the 1980s, and the Bata Shoe Museum's 1996 purchase of Garry Greenwood's work after Rex Lingwood introduced them.

A leather necklace made by the Australian-American artist Peter Main, photographed with the note that it belongs to Linda Courtney of Toronto, who gave her permission for the photograph to be printed.

Photo glimpses from the Canadian Society for Creative Leathercraft's annual general meeting, 2 May 2015 (photographs by Madeleine Mitchell): Eugene Pik, congratulated by Sean Dalgetty, advances to Associated member; Rex Lingwood's cuir-bouilli bowl, exhibited at the meeting; and that year's Weston Trophy display, won by the Mississauga Leather Guild, which hosted the meeting at the Art Gallery of Burlington.
Page 7
A leather high-heeled boot sculpture at the Bata Shoe Museum, Toronto, by the Australian artist Garry Greenwood (1943–2005), bought by the museum after a 1997 exhibition; entirely hand-worked in leather with wet-press techniques and a filigree shaft.

The Rex Lingwood interview continues on an attached page: tradition versus avant-garde, the salt bowl's own balance of sculpture and use, and his plans to keep working chiefly with bowls and chairs; with a photograph of Rex Lingwood outside his workshop in Bright, Ontario, in snow.
Page 9
A photographic series showing how one of Rex Lingwood's chairs is made, from the wooden form and clamped leather seat to the finished oxhide chair, with two further cuir-bouilli pieces: a torso-shaped box and a footed bowl.
The words above are the document’s own, as the paper prints them. Spelling and spacing are left as they stand.
