His work won First and Second Prizes at the Western Fair in 1964 and again in 1972, where the prize lists print his name as Mr. David Elliott; a Canadian National Exhibition Leathercraft Prize in the Women's Division in 1971, printed as D. Elliott; and prizes at the Canadian National Exhibition's Women's Division every year from 1972 to 1980, including a First Prize in 1976, along with a Craftsman Ribbon in 1978.
