Sylvia Gerster

← People of the Society · on record 1958–1972

Everything the Society’s own records say of Sylvia Gerster — the offices held, the standings conferred, and the awards won — gathered on one page. Where the records are silent, so is this one.

In memoriam · reported Winter 1984

Of London, Ontario — Associate of the Society from 1960, on its Executive Council in 1964 and Vice-President of the London Branch in 1969, and a prize-winner at the Western Fair of 1963 in gloves, belts and small articles, where the prize list named her as Mrs. Carl Gerster. The Winter 1984 newsletter (p. 3) reported the deaths of “two of our leathercrafters. Sylvia Gherster of London, and Emma Rothenburger of Ingersoll. They will be missed by all their friends in the Society.” No date is given. The scan of that page spells her surname Gherster; the archive keeps the Gerster of the earlier notices, which the Society printed for her four times between 1963 and 1969.

From Winter 1984–85, page 3.

Also recorded as Mrs. Carl Gerster, Mrs. S. Gerster, Mrs. Sylvia Gerster, Sylvia Gherster
