Don MacLeod

← People of the Society · on record 1987–2003

Everything the Society’s own records say of Don MacLeod — the offices held, the standings conferred, and the awards won — gathered on one page. Where the records are silent, so is this one.

In memoriam · 17 February 2007

Born in 1925; a Bell Telephone employee who joined the Mississauga Leather Group in 1983, served five years as its President and later as a President of the Society, and co-edited the Society's newsletter. Known for his covered buckles and lacing ponies; the Don MacLeod Belt Buckle Award is named for him.

From Spring 2007, page 12.

One of the three organizers of the Mississauga Leather Guild, with Joyce Scruton and Lea Love, who together formed its first Executive (Joyce Scruton's own memorial tribute, Fall 2015, dates this to more than thirty years before her 2015 death). He made a square for the CSCL Leather Quilt. He showed three pieces in the Society's exhibition at the Etobicoke Art Gallery, 4-29 September 1992, and his work won a Craftsman Ribbon at the Society's 2002 Annual. A member remembered with a tribute and a new award in his honour in 2007. He wrote “Building a Mouse House and Scanner Store” for The Leather Crafters Journal in 1992 (see Members in print on the Links page).
